Celebrating their 50th Anniversary was Aberdeen's longest serving Panto company with a production well up to their usual standard-complete with a magic talking mirror which provided the narration in this very traditional home grown Panto.
The incredibly long first act went remarkably quickly, with lots of vocal support from the
Brownies obviously enjoying the slapstick and visual gags, whilst Mums and Dads groaned at some excellent/awful one liners.
Whilst the majority of the cast shared the roles in this long running production, Kenny Carle played all nights as a wonderfully traditional Dame,
Bertha Buns in a well controlled and milking double act with Steve Burns. Steve as a fine Aberdonian Handy Andy, licensed to drill, was in fine vocal form throughout (It wasnae my fault!), hopelessly in love of course with a sweet and innocent Leigh Ryrie as Snow White.
Villainess of the piece was Claire John, still looking a little left over from We will Rock You with a funky and evil performance as Queen
Narcissa . The arrival of the scary robots had some of the younger audience concerned , but much flag waving, support for Nellie as a cheerful elephant (Kelly MacKay) and cries of
”behind you” soon restored the happy balance.
A nice end to the season.
