"Disco Inferno" hit the Arts Centre stage and as soon as the curtain opened, the audience were transformed back to the 70's.
With an original disco dance floor as part of the set, the disco numbers were danced and sung with energy by the cast. Memorable numbers which got the audience going were "Village People Medley", "Boogie Nights", "I will Survive", "Spirit in the Sky" and of course "Disco Inferno". With fantastic costumes (not to mention the platform shoes!), the cast danced their way through the disco numbers full of enthusiasm and enjoyment (even after having suffered months of hard sweat during dance rehearsals!!).
Many thanks to David Johnston for bring this show to Aberdeen which was a joy to watch. Also thanks to Sharon Gill for her hard work in choreographing the dance numbers and transforming every cast member into a "Disco Diva" and for Elaine Renwick for taking this challenge on as Musical Director.
It's the summer of 1976. Outside, the weather is as hot as the fashion and passion are on the dance floor as Jack is about to celebrate a 21st Birthday he will never foreget! Working late in a London Dance Club "Disco Inferno", Jack meets Lady Marmalade - the devil's right hand lady. Dreaming of becoming successful, he makes a deal with her trading his soul to fulfil his wildest fantasies. Sounds like an ideal bargain? Think again. He becomes an instant success (even making an appearance on Top of the Pops with a bumbling Jimmy Saville. However, success proves hollow.
Jack has fame and fortune but is losing his girlfriend, Jane. If only he could turn back time and make one more trade .... Love!
Musical Numbers include: Celebration, Crocodile Rock, Kissing in the Back Row, Streetlife, Could it be Magic, YMCA, Go West, Figaro, I will Survive, Boogie Wonderland, Blame it on the Boogie, Spirit in the Sky, Play that Funky Music and of course Disco Inferno.
