Attic go on raising the roof

Another Christmas another Attic panto, and another chance for your kids to boo and cheer their way to bedtime.

This year, the story of Cinderella provides the characters for the tried-and-tested Attic formula.

Cinderella goes to the ball, the Ugly Sisters try to stop her, she marries the Prince and, along the way, some gold goes missing, two debt collectors  join the hunt for it and a Wicked Gnome gets embroiled in a p;ot to bring about Cinderella's downfall.

Confusing as it may seem to the uninitiated, but this first night audience didn't seem to notice as long as there were flags to wave and magic spells to get their teeth into.

Staged on some beautiful sets by Kay Donaldson, and with a line-up of colourful costumes and lighting effects, this panto certainly sparkles visually.

With some strong performances from the Ugly Sisters and Wicked Stepmother, and a very sweet Buttons  and Cinderella leading the way, the show is in perfectly capable hands.

Your kids should have a ball.
