Attic Theatre's pantomime for 2003 was "Dick Whittington" which was held at Aberdeen Arts Centre, King Street from 10-23 December 2003. This proved to be another successful Pantomime which was enjoyed by both children and adults. No stranger to Attic pantos but her first as Director for Attic Theatre, Sonja Read skilfully brought together a lively and colourful production. With help from her Musical Director Lindsey Masson, the story of Dick Whittington unfolded with catchy musical numbers and of course the usual panto antics. Attic would like to thank Sonja, her production team, cast and crew who all have worked hard to bring yet another Attic panto successfully to an end.
Once upon a time, there was a poor young boy called Dick Whittington who, with his faithful cat, decided to set out on a journey to London to find fame and fortune in a city with pavements (allegedly) paved with gold.
However, once in London disappointment follows but he meets and joins the household of Alderman Fitzwarren and falls in love with the beautiful Alice.
Throughout the adventures that follow, he sets sail on a ship bound for the East, is shipwrecked on the rat-infested island of Morocco and comes face to face with King Rat himself, before eventually winning over the hand of Alice. |
