Attic Theatre's pantomime this year was  "Babes in the "Wood" which was being performed at Aberdeen Arts Centre from 6 - 22 December 2001.  Directed by Stuart Mearns, Musical Director was  Diane Wright  and Choreographer was Leigh Ryrie.  This year, for the first time, there was a performance for deaf and blind people.

The witch is the sister to Sheriff Nottingham and between them they plan to cut down the forest to build houses.  The forest, however, is where the Woodland Sprite (Good Fairy) watches over and if the forest is destroyed then the powers of the Woodland Sprite will be reduced and she will die.

However, the Sheriff has been left to look after his niece and nephew (the Two Babes) who he detests and plans to have them killed with the help from “Slim” and “Shady”.  Before he can put his plan to action, the Babes run away to the forest to be with their hero Robin Hood and his Merry Men.  Maid Marion discovers their disappearance and with Trudy (The Dame), “Alan Adale” and the friendly Fox, they go to the forest to find the Babes – but beware, the baddies give chase!!

Meanwhile, Robin Hood, with the help of a magical crystal arrow, finds the Babes but also discovers that his love, Maid Marion, has been captured and locked in the Witch’s castle.  The Sheriff then organises an archery competition – the prize being Maid Marion’s hand in marriage.  What Robin doesn’t know is that the Sheriff has a few tricks up his sleeve!!

Will Robin Hood manage to beat the Sheriff at the archery competition?

Will Robin Hood and his Merry Men rescue Maid Marion from the Witch’s Castle?
