CHRISTMAS wouldn't be the same without a panto. Neither would
Attic Theatre.
This
group is pretty expert at the formula that make children laugh.
They should be, they've been around for as long as Aberdeen Arts
Centre itself.
That's why, after more than 30 years, Attic has run out of
traditional fairytales and has opted for an all-new story.
On
saying that, all the usual ingredients are there: a princess under a
magic spell, a wicked squire, a dashing young man and a good fairy.
There
are some things you just can't change. With lots of singing,
booing, cheering and flag-waving, there's plenty to keep the young
audience occupied.
Bright costumes, cheery music and strong performances from Beldie
the cook (Dave Fearns), the Good Fairy (Judith Barron), the comic
Alli (Gordon Moir) and Jason( Debbie Boyd), carried the action along
nicely, although the show is slightly less magical without the usual
abundance of exciting special effects.
If an
altogether rowdy and raucous show is what you're after, however, you
can do no better.
